this song has become one of my favorite songs this summer. i feel i can really relate to this song. i know and feel i relate to the song lyrically and yes, it is very much heartfelt. it’s kind of sad i only discovered this song this year when it has been played for a few years now. i don’t know why, but i see the beauty in the sadness of this song. so i’m here to interpret the lyrics.

i think it’s about a guy who really has deep feelings for this one girl. you can tell that this girl is really special to the guy, the girl is his everything. this can be seen with the quoting of  the line “In Your Arms I’m Defined.” for me, just saying those words is already a huge thing. it’s so deep. we can also see how deep the guy feels for this girl with the lines “And I am a stone in the eyes. Of your foolishness.” with that line we can see that the guy does not care what stupid stuff the girl does as long as he knows that she’s there and that she can be called his.

we can see that there is some history between the two people. if my interpretation is right, this is how the pattern went: the guy liked the girl, the girl did not respond to his advances so the guy drifts. the girl notices the guy is gone, looks for him and in a way chases him. and it’s obvious that the guy can’t loose such deep feelings right away so he comes back. but yet again, the girl is confused with what she wants and just kind of shows that what they have means nothing anymore. we can see this drama unfold with the lines “Well if this is what I’m meant for. I’m No longer interesting. Fall forward just to even the score. Just a point to you” it can be seen that the girl looses interest for the guy but since she came back to him, the guy falls even harder and tries to even out the score but since she doesn’t feel anything anymore the point is still the girls and in the end he does not win.

the most solid and heart felt part of this song, to me is the lines “Yet I’m nothing more. Than a line in your book.” to me it’s like, to the girl the guy is nothing. he does not mean anything. maybe the guy was mentioned once in the girl’s diary. maybe the guy is just a line in the girl’s book, book meaning life and stories.

through all the emoness, it’s kinda a love song. such a beautiful yet sad song. i hate how i feel this song and how i can relate.
